Know your photographer.
For starters, you need to make sure that you really are getting an expert or a professional in the boudoir photography niche. Thinking that you can just get any boudoir photographer is the wrong way to get started with the boudoir photography shoot. You need to understand the fact that this is something that requires experience and expertise in order for something like this to work out in the first place. Take a look at his previous portfolio. Does his past work corroborate his claims of having had experience in boudoir photography in particular? If not, then you probably need to start looking somewhere else. You need someone who is seasoned and whose skills have been honed in doing this for the longest time running already. You also need to establish a certain level of rapport or chemistry with your photographer. You will be at your most vulnerable when you are posing relatively half naked and doing that in front of a total stranger or someone that you aren’t very comfortable to be around in can take certain aspects away from the shoot that you are posing for at the end of the day.
Know what your best angles are. Confidence is one of the most important ingredients in posing for boudoir photography. If you don’t really know yourself and don’t really know what your best angles are, then you should get started on figuring that out way before the shoot as much as possible. When you know what your strengths and weakness are, you know exactly what to conceal and what to showcase by the time that you get right in front of the camera so far. It’s totally OK to ask your photographer for pointers and tips whenever there are times wherein you are feeling just a bit too unsure with yourself at times.
Dress to kill.
The outfits that you wear will really bring in your boudoir photography shots at a more comprehensive level. Posing sexy and opting for something slightly risqué and out of the box won’t do you any good if your outfits aren’t cooperating with the entire theme in the first place. Get a fresh set of eyes and get fashion advice from someone that you can really trust. There will be a lot of times wherein you will come across a certain article of clothing thinking that it will look great on you just because it looks great on others but that is oftentimes not the case. Body times and skin tones vary and this is what you need to really have a clear understanding of when you are picking out the outfits that you are planning to wear to the shoot.
Pay attention to makeup.
You can get your own done if you are confident enough about it or you can go for a professional makeup artist if you want to opt for a more professional touch to the kind of makeup you wear. Make sure that it highlights all of the fine points of your face and that your eye makeup in particular adds a certain type of impact and oomph to your overall look.
